This quarter we basically discussed about algebra and exponents. I learned how to find x and y in an algebraic equation. In the middle of the quarter I learned about graphing an quadratic equation in a software designed mainly to solve and show how to draw quadratic graphs. In the beginning I got lost and was desperate to understand quadratic equation but I couldn't learn it. Finally because of God's grace I learned and understood everything which was taught the whole month. I did well on the quadratic test and am waiting for the results.This is my best sample work since I did very well on test (about exponents and algebra), I have done moderate on this test. I could improve on this test by studying and explaining what's in my mind clearly and vividly since I didn't do very well on the criteria 'communication'. The Global Context which is shown and applied is Scientific and Technological Innovation. This relates to the chosen Global Context because without scientific innovation in mathematics, the theory or formula would be wrong or not even corrected. Math is one of the areas which needed innovation, if Albert Einstein didn't find the formula E equals mc squared, people wouldn't know how to calculate energy.
In this subject I learned about one main topic, which was inequalities. I studied how to draw number-lines and graphs with inequalities. Basically inequality is in-equal-ity, which means not equal, so we calculate with greater than, lesser than, greater equal than and lesser equal than. This topic was partly challenging for me because I was only experienced in equal equations and this topic kind of differed. I got a 6/8 because I got the basics incorrect, but got the challenging ones right. Next time I would improve my score by studying harder and with more concentration and precision to improve my score and get more knowledge. The Global Context that I applied is Orientation in Space and Time. I have explored personal histories (in math, which is their origin and development). Also, there is the relationship between, and the interconnectedness from personal, local and global perspectives (which is by equations and the language of mathematics). My teacher's comment is," I make generally makes appropriate deductions where solving challenging problems".
